The two-dimensional thumbnail view lets you view some of the media inside the experiments before opening them.
It also makes it possible to group more sharing on your screen so that you can more easily see the results of your filtering.
It is not comparable, of course, and is just one step towards the immersive 3-D view that is one of the long-term objectives of the AllPeople project.
This 3-dimensional view could not be presented in the MVP.
